आज हर रिश्ता सिर्फ दिखावा रह गया है। खुद को कितनी ही दिलासा दें लेकिन सच जब सामने आता है तो सारे भ्रम टूट जाते हैं।

समझ नही आता लोग गरीब से परहेज करते हैं या गरीबी से। मेरा अनुभव तो ये कहता है कि गरीब होना इस समाज में सबसे बड़ा गुनाह है। कई बार हालात ऐसे हो जाते हैं कि हम जिन्हें गरीब समझकर किसी लायक नहीं समझते, वही हमारे लिए कुछ ऐसा काम कर देते हैं कि जिसकी कोई व्याख्या नहीं की जा सकती।

सुलोचना मैडम अकेली थी घर में, उनका बेटा ड्यूटी गया था और बहू बाजार गई थी। नीचे वॉचमैन ड्यूटी पर था, को कभी कभी कुछ सामान या मैसेज देने उनके फ्लैट में आता था।तो सुलोचना मैडम वॉचमैन चंदू को बहुत गुस्से से देखती थी। चंदू समझता था कि सुलोचना मैडम उसे क्यों ऐसे गुस्से से देखती थी। कई बार उन्होने चंदू को अपमानित किया है इन शब्दों के साथ - कि तुम गरीब लोग समाज में किसी धब्बे से कम नहीं हो।

इतने बुरे शब्द सुनने के बाद भी चंदू ने कभी पलटकर जवाब नहीं दिया। क्योंकि सुलोचना मैडम में वो अपनी मां की छवि देखता था।

ख़ैर ! आज सुबह से ही सुलोचना जी का स्वास्थ्य कुछ ठीक नहीं लग रहा था। उन्हें अपने दिल की धड़कन और दिनों से कुछ ज्यादा तेज महसूस हो रही थी। लेकिन उन्होंने किसी को कुछ नहीं बताई और सभी अपने - अपने कामों में लगे रहे।

दोपहर में बहू के बाजार जाने के बाद ही अचानक सुलोचना जी की तबियत बिगड़ गई। तभी चंदू कोई पार्सल देने उनके फ्लैट में आया। तो देखा कि सुलोचना जी पसीने से तरबतर नीचे गिरी पड़ी है। उसने तुरंत पड़ोसियों को बुलाया और सुलोचना जी को अस्पताल ले जाया गया। वहीं से चंदू ने उनके बेटे और बहू को फोन करके सारी बात बताई।

वो दोनो तुरंत अस्पताल पहुंचे और चंदू को धन्यवाद देने लगे तो चंदू बोला साहब, मैडम मेरी मां जैसी है। उनकी जगह मेरी मां होती तब भी मैं यही करता। मैंने आप पर कोई एहसान नहीं किया है।

अब तक सुलोचना को होश आ गया था, अब उनकी हालत स्थिर थी। जैसे ही उन्हें पता चला कि उन्हें अस्पताल तक लाने में चंदू ही सबसे आगे था, तो अपने आप पर उन्हें शर्म आई। अपने बेटे से उन्होंने चंदू को बुलाने को कहा।

जैसे ही चंदू अंदर आया सुलोचना मैडम को स्वस्थ देखकर उसने राहत की सांस ली, और पूछा आप ठीक हो ना मैडम, इस पर सुलोचना मैडम बोली, मुझे मैडम नहीं मां बुलाओ चंदू।

आज तुमने एक बेटे का फर्ज निभाया है चंदू। यदि समय पर तुम मुझे अस्पताल नही लाते तो आज मैं तुम लोगों के साथ नहीं होती। मैंने हमेशा तुम्हें छोटा समझी, कभी अच्छा व्यवहार नहीं की तुम्हारे साथ, तब भी तुमने मेरी जान बचाई।

हम गरीब लोग हैं मैडम, हमारी मेहनत और ईमानदारी से ही हमारे घर का चूल्हा जलता है। यदि हम काम ईमानदारी से नही करेंगे तो हमें काम कौन देगा।

आप जैसे बड़े लोगों के सामने खड़े होने की हमारी औकात नहीं है। मैंने सिर्फ अपनी ड्यूटी निभाई है। आप लोगो की सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी है मुझ पर। तो आपको कैसे नहीं लता मैं अस्पताल।

चंदू का जवाब सुनकर सुलोचना जी को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ। अब उन्हें समझ आया कि इंसान का अच्छा या बुरा व्यवहार उसे अमीर या गरीब बनाता है। जो दया और ईमानदारी से सबकी सहायता करे वही सबसे अमीर है।

I do not understand whether people avoid the poor or from poverty. My experience says that being poor is the biggest crime in this society. Many times the situation becomes such that those whom we consider poor and do not consider them worthy, they do some work for us that cannot be explained.

Sulochana madam was alone in the house, her son had gone to duty and daughter - in - law had gone to the market. The watchman downstairs was on duty, who sometimes used to come to his flat to deliver some goods or messages. So Sulochana madam looked at Chandu very angrily. Chandu understood why Sulochana madam used to look at him with such anger. Many times she insulted Chandu with these words - that you poor people are no less than a spot in the society.

Even after hearing such bad words, Chandu never replied back. Because in Sulochana ji he used to see the image of his mother.

Well, since this morning Sulochana ji's health was not feeling well. She was feeling her heart beating and little than days. But she did not tell anything to anyone and everyone kept on doing their work.

Sulochana's health suddenly deteriorated only after the daughter-in-law went to the market in the afternoon. Then Chandu come to his flat to deliver a parcel. So saw that Sulochana madam was lying down drenched in sweat. He immediately call the neighbors and Sulochana ji was taken to the hospital. From there Chandu called his son and daughter-in-law and told everything.

Both of them immediately reached the hospital and started thanking Chandu, then Chandu said sir, madam is like my mother. I would have done the same even if mother was in her place. I haven't done you any favours.

By now Sulochana had regained consciousness, now her condition was stable. As soon as she came to know that Chandu was at the fore in bringing her to the hospital, she felt ashamed of herself. She asked his son to call Chandu.

As soon as Chandu came in , seeing Sulochana madam healthy, Chandu breathed a sigh of relief, and asked are you okay madam. Sulochana madam said on this, call me mother not madam Chandu.

Today you have fulfilled the duty of a son, Chandu. If you had not brought me to the hospital on time, I would not have been with you today. I always considered you small, never treated you well, even then you saved my life Chandu.

We are poor people madam, it is our hard work and honesty that burns the hearth of our house. If we do not do our work honestly, who will give us work.

We don't have the right to stand in front of big people like you. I have only done my duty. The responsibility of your people's safety is on me. So how come I don't bring you to the hospital.

Hearing Chandu's answer Sulochana ji realised his mistake. Now she understood that good or bad behaviour of a person makes him rich or poor. The proud man rich with money is the poorest, and the one who helps everyone with kindness and the honesty is the richest.
