एक छोटा सा sorry बेरंग ज़िंदगी को रंगीन कर देता है। ठीक वैसे ही जैसे एक चुटकी नमक बेस्वाद खाने का स्वाद बढ़ा देता है।

छोटी छोटी बातों पर बहस, रिश्तों में खटास पैदा करती है। संकोची स्वभाव की लता का ससुराल में पहला दिन था।पहले ही दिन से सास ने बहू के कामों में कमियां निकालना शुरू कर दी। लता इन बातों से दुःखी हो गई तो पति को बताई की मम्मी को मेरा काम पसंद नहीं आ रहा, कैसे खुश करूं उन्हें।

कुछ देर सोचने के बाद सुरेश ने लता को समझाया कि तुम उदास मत हो समय के साथ साथ सब ठीक हो जाएगा। लेकिन जैसे जैसे समय बीतता गया हालात सुधरने के बजाय बिगड़ते गए। अब रोज के तानों से लता परेशान हो गई थी। उसको अब यहां अच्छा नहीं लगता था, चिड़चिढ़ी हो गई थी लता। उसके इस चिढ़चिढ़े व्यवहार का असर अब उसके वैवाहिक जीवन पर दिखने लगा। बहुत कोशिशों के बाद भी लता खुद को बदल नहीं पा रही थी।

अब बात बहुत बिगड़ चुकी थी, सुरेश अब तक चुप था। लेकिन अब उससे लता की हालत देखी नहीं जा रही थी। क्योंकि अब सुरेश की मां लता को पागल साबित करके उसे घर से निकालने का मन बना चुकी थी। जब ये सच्चाई सुरेश को पता चली तो उसने तय किया कि जिस गृहस्थी को चलाने और संभालने की जिम्मेदारी दोनो की थी वो जिम्मेदारी उसने अकेली लता के कंधों पर छोड़ दिया था जो कि गलत था।

सुरेश को अपनी गलती का एहसास था। लता का अच्छे डॉक्टर से इलाज करवाया और डॉक्टर की सलाह से सुरेश लता को इस माहौल से दूर हरे भरे पहाड़ी इलाकों में घूमने के लिए ले गया। वहां बहुत समय दोनों ने एकांत में बिताए।

अब सुरेश को लता की सभी बातों का मतलब समझ आ रहा था। क्यों लता हमेशा कहती थी कि ज़िंदगी हो या रसोई एक चुटकी नमक से स्वाद बढ़ भी जाता है और बिगड़ भी जाता है।

ये बात छोटी नहीं थी, बस सुरेश को समझने में वक्त लग गया। अब सुरेश ने लता का हाथ अपने हाथ में लेते हुए ये कसम ली कि अब ज़िंदगी हो या रसोई जब भी स्वाद में कमी आयेगी तो एक चुटकी नमक मैं ही डालूंगा। अब तुम्हें अकेले नहीं उठानी है कोई जिम्मेदारी, मैं हमेशा तुम्हारे साथ हूं।

A small apology makes a colorless life colorful. Just like a pinch of salt enhances the taste of tasteless food.

Arguing over small things creates sourness in relationships. It was Lata's first day at her in-laws' house. When Lata became sad because of these things, she told her husband that her mother did not like my work, how should I make her happy.

Suresh realized his mistake. Lata was treated by a good doctor and on the advice of the doctor, Suresh took Lata away from this environment for a walk in the green hilly areas. There both spent a lot of time in solitude.

Now Suresh was understanding the meaning of all the words of Lata. Why Lata always used to say that be it life or kitchen, a pinch of salt increases the taste and also spoils it.

This thing was not small, it just took time for Suresh to understand. Now Suresh took Lata's hand in his hand and took an oath that whenever there is a shortage of taste in the kitchen or life, I will only add a pinch of salt.
