सजा / punishment

         सजा ये कैसी मिली हमको दिल लगाने की,

         कि रो  रहे  हैं तमन्ना  थी   मुस्कुराने    की।

किसी शायर की ये पंक्तियां पूर्णिमा की परिस्थिति पर सटीक बैठती है। आज प्रेम विवाह करने के बदले उसे परिवार का बहिष्कार सहना पड़ रहा है।

          

प्रेम विवाह को आज भी कई लोग अच्छा नहीं मानते। विवाह संबंध सजातीय में होना ही प्रतिष्ठा का प्रतीक माना जाता है। पूर्णिमा उच्च ब्राह्मण कुल की लड़की थी, संयुक्त परिवार में पली बढ़ी, संस्कारवान थी पूर्णिमा।

माता पिता ने बेटा-बेटी में कोई भेद नहीं किए। बेटी को भी पूरी आजादी दी घूमने - फिरने की और पढ़ाई - लिखाई की। पूर्णिमा बहुत सुंदर थी और रूप के अनुरूप ही उसका व्यवहार भी था। अब पूर्णिमा कॉलेज में प्रथम वर्ष की छात्रा थी। बीएससी की पढ़ाई कर रही थी, विषय कठिन था इसलिए दो से तीन ट्यूशन लेती थी वो। 

          

प्रतिभावान पूर्णिमा को पसंद करने वालों की कमी नहीं थी। एक सहपाठी जिसका नाम आलोक था कुछ ज्यादा ही पसंद करता था पूर्णिमा को। पूर्णिमा भी उसकी ओर आकर्षित थी इस बात का एहसास था आलोक को।

प्यार कभी छिपता नहीं। पूर्णिमा और आलोक भले ही खुद से भी झूठ बोलते थे कि ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है लेकिन उन्हें हमेशा साथ में देखने वाले, देखते ही बोल देते थे कि दोनों में बहुत प्यार है।

          

धीरे - धीरे प्यार आगे बढ़ रहा था। अब कॉलेज की अंतिम वर्ष की परीक्षा का समय आ गया था। आलोक गैर ब्राह्मण था औरवो ये जानता था कि पूर्णिमा के परिवार वाले उसे कभी स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे। अब आलोक ने पूर्णिमा को जिम्मेदारी दे दिया कि आगे क्या करना है तुम सोचकर बताओ।

                  आलोक पूर्णिमा से शादी करना चाहता था। पूर्णिमा अपने परिवार वालों को जानती थी कि वो इस रिश्ते को कभी स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे। लेकिन कोई निर्णय तो लेना था पूर्णिमा को। 

आज आखरी पेपर था, बैग में कुछ कपड़े रखकर पूर्णिमा पेपर देने के लिए घर से निकल गई। आलोक उसे कॉलेज में ही मिल गया और पेपर खत्म होने के बाद दोनों अपनी नई दुनिया बसाने निकल पड़े। 

         

देर रात तक पूर्णिमा घर नहीं पहुंची तो परिवार वालों ने उसे ढूंढना शुरू किए। कुछ करीबी दोस्तों से पूछताछ करने पर पता चला कि पूर्णिमा आलोक के साथ शादी करके चली गई। परिवार अपनी प्रतिष्ठा को मिट्टी में मिलते देख तिलमिला उठा। घर में सख्ती से बोल दिया गया कि आज से पूर्णिमा मार चुकी है हमारे लिए। इस घर में ना कोई उसका नाम लेगा और ना कभी उससे कोई बात करेगा।

जीवन में उतार - चढ़ाव देखते हुए पूर्णिमा और आलोक भी अपनी दुनिया में मस्त थे। लेकिन किस्मत का लिखा कोई नहीं जानता। आलोक को ब्रेन हेमरेज हो गया और उसकी हालत दिन पर दिन बिगड़ती जा रही थी। 

         

दुःख के समय में पूर्णिमा ने अपने पिता को सूचित की। पापा आप आ जाओ इन्हें किसी भी वक्त कुछ भी हो सकता है। पिता अपनी पुत्री को रोता हुआ नहीं देख सके और तुरंत अस्पताल पहुंचे। मगर अफसोस आलोक की मृत्यु हो गई। अब पूर्णिमा कहां जाए क्या करे, ऐसे ही कई सवाल थे उसके आस - पास। पिता ने सांत्वना दी कि मैं घर में बात करके देखता हूं। बड़े भाईसाहब क्या बोलते हैं।

नाराजगी कम नहीं हुई थी लेकिन बुरे हाल में बेटी को बेसहारा भी नहीं छोड़ सकते थे। पूर्णिमा को उसके पापा अपने साथ घर ले आए। लेकिन जहां लाड़ - दुलार से उसे पाल पोसकर बड़ा किए थे अब वहां की परिस्थिति बिल्कुल विपरीत थी।

                 पूर्णिमा ने कभी नहीं सोची थी कि उसे अपने ही परिवार में परायापन देखने को मिलेगा। आज सभी उसे नफरत से देख रहे थे। उसे कैदियों की तरह एक कमरे में बंद कर दिया गया और ना कोई उसका हालचाल पूछता था और ना कोई बात करते थे। उसने प्रताड़ना की कल्पना नहीं की थी, क्योंकि जिसकी जरा सी चोट से पूरा परिवार परेशान हो जाता था आज उन्हें पूर्णिमा के आंसू भी पिघला नहीं पा रहे है।      

         

                    

 प्यार करने की ये सजा मिलेगी ऐसा तो सपने में भी नहीं सोची थी पूर्णिमा ने। जिस कमरे में पूर्णिमा को रखा गया था वहां सिर्फ एक खिड़की थी जिससे वो बाहर देखकर अपना समय व्यतीत करती थी। सभी से संपर्क टूट गया था उसका।

मानसिक यातनाओं से परेशान पूर्णिमा अब हालात से समझौता करके बस इस कमरे से बाहर जाना चाहती थी। परिवार में एक बार फिर तनाव का माहौल महसूस कर रही थी पूर्णिमा। इस बार भी ये माहौल पूर्णिमा से जुड़ा था।

उसके लिए पुनर्विवाह का निर्णय ले चुके परिवार में एक रिश्ता आया था। लड़के की पत्नी मर चुकी थी। लेकिन पूर्णिमा ने हां कर दी। क्योंकि प्यार करने की जो सजा पूर्णिमा को मिली थी, उससे उसकी सहनशक्ति जवाब दे चुकी थी। उस एक कमरे की कैद उसको पागल करने के लिए काफी थी। 

          

इससे अच्छा था कि वो दूजवर से शादी करके अपनी सजा खत्म करे। शादी हो गई आज एक सुखी जीवन जी रही पूर्णिमा यही कहती है कि वो अपने बच्चों के लिए इतने कठोर नियम नहीं बनायेगी।

प्यार करना कोई गुनाह नहीं है, जिसके लिए किसी को इस तरह प्रताड़ित या दंडित किया जाए।

This lines of a poet fit the situation of Poornima. Today instead of getting married, she has to bear the boycott of the family. 

        

Even today many people do not consider love marriage as good. Being in a homogeneous marriage relationship is considered a symbol of prestige. Poornima was a girl of high Brahmin family, grew up in a joint family, Poornima was cultured. 

                 Parents did not make any distinction between son and daughter. The daughter was also given complete freedom to travel and study. Poornima was very beautiful and behaviour was according to the form. Now Poornima was first year student in the college. She was studying B.sc the subject was difficult, so she used to take two to three tuition per day. 

          

There was no dearth of fans for the talented Poornima. A classmate whose name was Alok was very fond of Poornima. Alok realized that Poornima was also attracted to him.

Love never hides. Even though Poornima and Alok used to lie to themselves that there is nothing like this, but those who saw them together always used to say that there is a lot of love between them.

            

Slowly the love was moving forward. Now it was time for the final year examination of the college. Alok was a non - Brahmin and he knew that Poornima's family would never accept him. Now Alok has given the responsibility to Poornima that what to do next, you think and tell. 

Alok wanted to marry Poornima. Poornima knew her family members that they would never accept this relationship but some decision had to be taken on Poornima.

               Today was the last paper, keeping some clothes in the bag, Poornima left the house to give the paper. Alok met him in college itself and after the paper was over, both of them set out to settle their new world.

           

When Poornima did not reach home till late night, the family members started looking for her. On questioning some close friends, it came to know that Poornima left after marrying Alok. The family was stunned to see their reputation being mixed in the soil. It was strictly said in the house that from today onwards Poornima is dead for us. No one will take his name in this house and no one will ever talk to her.

Seeing the ups and downs in life, Poornima and Alok were also engrossed in their world. But no one knows the fate of fate. Alok suffered a brain hemorrhage and his condition was deteriorating day by day.

         

 In time of grief, Poornima informed her father. Papa you come, anything can happen to them at any time. The father could not see his daughter crying and immediately rushed to the hospital. But alas Alok died. Now where should Poornima go, there were many such questions around her. Father consoled me that I will talk at home and see. What do elder brothers say ?

               The resentment had not subsided but could not even leave the daughter destitute in bad condition. On Poornima, his father brought home with him. But where she was brought up by pampering him, now the situation there was completely opposite.

Poornima never thought that she would get alienation in her own family. Today everyone was looking at her with hatred. She was locked in a room like a prisoner and no one used to inquire about his well being and no one spoke.

          

She had not imagined the torture because whose slight injury used to upset the whole family, today they are in tears of Poornima. Can't even melt.

Poornima did not even dream that she would get this punishment for loving. In the room where Poornima was kept, there was only one window from which she used to spend her time looking outside. She has lost contact with everyone.

Troubled by mental torture, Poornima now wanted to compromise on the condition and just go out of this room. Poornima was once again feeling the atmosphere of tension in the family. This time also this atmosphere was related to the Poornima.

                   There was a relationship in the family that had decided to remarry for him. The boys wife was dead. But Poornima said yes. Because the punishment that Poornima had received for loving her, her stamina had answered. The confinement of that one room was enough to drive him insane. 

         

 

It was better that she finish his  punishment by marrying a dujvar. Got married, today Poornima, who is living a happy life, says that she will not make such strict rules for her children.

To love is not a crime for which anyone should be tortured or punished like this.
