दूरियां / Distance

हर रिश्ते में मिठास होती है, लेकिन वो तब तक ही रहती है जब तक उसे प्यार से निभाया जाए। थोड़ी सी भी खटास रिश्ते में दूरियां ला देती है।

           

हेमा अपने छोटे से परिवार के साथ सुख से जी रही थी। पति विजय की प्राइवेट नौकरी थी तो हेमा अपनी गृहस्थी को थोड़ा सहारा देकर पति का सहयोग करना चाहती थी। इसलिए वो अपने खाली समय में सिलाई कर लिया करती थी।

उन्हें किसी प्रकार की कोई परेशानी नहीं थी। कभी छोटी - मोटी नोंक झोंक होती भी थी तो, अगले दिन हेमा ही माफी मांग कर पति को मना लेती थी। विजय की एक ही बुरी आदत थी कि वो हेमा पर शक करता था। इस बात का भी हेमा ने कभी बुरा नहीं मानी और जैसा विजय चाहता था वैसे ही रहती थी। ना किसी से मिलना ना बात करना।

पड़ोस की महिलाएं उसे अक्सर कहती थी कि हेमा तुम खुद को जितना विजय के अनुरूप ढालोगी वो उतना ज्यादा प्रतिबंध तुम पर लगाएगा। हेमा हमेशा बोलती थी कि नहीं वो ऐसे नहीं हैं, मैं तो अपनी ही मर्जी से ऐसी रहती हूं, मेरा काम भी तो घर में ही है। मुझे बाहर जाना ही नहीं पड़ता। जिस दिन जरूरत पड़ेगी तब जाऊंगी भी।

            

सच में अब विजय हेमा पर ज्यादा शक करने लगा था। हेमा के पास कीपैड मोबाइल था, उसे भी विजय ने अपने पास रखना शुरू कर दिया। हेमा के सारे पहचान पत्र भी अपने साथ ले जाता था।

विजय का ऐसा व्यवहार चिंता का विषय था। हेमा कभी दरवाजे पर खड़ी रहती थी तो विजय उसे हाथ पकड़कर अंदर खींच लेता और पूछता कि क्यों किसे देख रही थी क्यों मुस्कुरा रही थी।

             

हेमा का बड़ा बेटा आयुष अब 18 वर्ष का हो चुका था। पिता का ऐसा व्यवहार उसे बहुत बुरा लगता था, आयुष हमेशा अपनी मां से कहता था कि आपने ऐसे आदमी से शादी क्यों की मां। आपको मैने कभी खुश नहीं देखा क्या मिला आपको शादी करके।

             

हेमा कहती थी तेरे पिताजी पहले ऐसे नहीं थे, पता नहीं अब क्यों ऐसा व्यवहार करते हैं। हेमा का छोटा बेटा अंकुश भी अब बड़ा हो गया और वो भी मां के दुःख को समझता था। बेटों का मां के प्रति प्यार भी विजय को बर्दास्त नहीं होता था। वो हेमा से कहता था कि तुम मेरे बेटों को मेरे खिलाफ भड़का रही हो, दूर रहो उनसे।

अब आयुष इन सब बातों को और नही सुन सकता था। ये रोज - रोज के झगड़े से तंग आकर आयुष अपने पिता से झगड़ पड़ा। तो विजय ने हेमा और आयुष का सामान घर से बाहर फेंककर दोनों को पड़ोसियों के सामने बेइज्जत कर आधी रात को घर से भगा दिया।

            

हेमा इस अपमान से इतनी आहत हुई कि उसने कसम खा ली कि अब इस घर में कभी वापस नहीं आएगी। लेकिन छोटा बेटा अब भी विजय के साथ ही था तो एक मां का मन कैसे चैन से रहेगा। 

हेमा अक्सर छोटे बेटे की चिंता करती थी, तब आयुष कहता था क्या करें मां वापस चलें क्या घर। तब हेमा कहती थी नहीं बेटा, मैं एक मां होने से पहले एक स्त्री हूं।

कोई भी स्त्री अपने चरित्र पर कलंक बर्दास्त नहीं करती, तो मैं कैसे करू। आज तक जैसे तेरे पिता चाहते थे मैं वैसे ही रही लेकिन इतना अपमान होने के बाद उनके प्रति मेरे मन में ना वो सम्मान है और ना प्रेम।

             

आज जो दूरियां आई है इस रिश्ते में, इस सबके जिम्मेदार तुम्हारे पिता ही है। कहीं ना कहीं दोषी मैं भी हूं, क्योंकि मैं उनकी हर बात का अनुसरण करती गई। खुद को उन्हे ये सोचकर समर्पित की थी कि पति - पत्नी एक दूसरे के पूरक होते हैं। लेकिन मैं गलत थी, उनके बुरे व्यवहार को भी मैं अपने प्रति प्रेम ही समझती रही।

हेमा को छह वर्ष हो गए पति से अलग रहते हुए। विजय बार बार माफी मांगता है कि हेमा तुम वापस आ जाओ जैसा तुम कहोगी वैसा ही होगा अब, लेकिन इस दूरी को पाटना अब हेमा के हाथ में भी नहीं है।

There is sweetness in every relationship, but it lasts only as long as it is played with love. The slightest sourness brings distance in the relationship.

        

Hema was living happily with her small family. Husband Vijay had a private job, so Hema wanted to support her husband by giving some support to her household, that's why she used to sew in her spare time.

They didn't have any problem. Sometimes there used to be a small tip, even then, the next day Hema used to convince her husband by asking for sorry. Vijay had only bad habit, that he used to doubt Hema. Hema never felt bad  about this too and lived as Vijay wanted. Neither meeting nor talking with anyone.

The women of the neighborhood used to tell him often that Hema, the more you adapt yourself to Vijay, the more restrictions he will impose on you. Hema always used to say that no, he is not like this, my work is also at home. I don't even have to go out, I will go the day I need it.

            

 In fact, now Vijay started doubting Hema more. Hema had a keypad mobile, Vijay started keeping it with him too. He also used to take all the identity cards of Hema with him. 

Such behaviour of Vijay was a matter of concern. If Hema was ever standing at the door, Vijay would hold her hand and drag her inside and ask why she was smiling.

          

 Hema's eldest son Ayush was now 18 years old. He felt very bad about his father's behaviour. Ayush always used to tell his mother that why did you marry such a man, mother. I have never seen you happy, what did you get by marrying you.

                          Hema used to say that your father was not like this before, I don't know why he behaves like this now. Hema's younger son Ankush has also grown up now and he too understands the grief of his mother. The love of the sons towards the mother was also not tolerated by Vijay. He used to tell Hema that you are instigating my son's against me, stay away from them.

           

         

 Now Ayush could not listen to all these things anymore. Tired of these everyday fights, Ayush quarreled with his father. So Vijay threw Hema and Ayush's belongings out of the house and humiliated both of them in front of the neighbours and drove them out of the house in the middle of the night.

Hema was so hurt by this humiliation that she swore that she would never return to this house. But the younger son was still with Vijay, so now could a mother's mind be at peace ? 

                   

Hema often used to worry about the younger son, then Ayush used to say what should the mother go back home. Then Hema used to say no son, before being a mother, I am a woman first.

If any woman does not tolerate stigma on her character, then how can I do it. Till today I have lived as your father wanted. But after being so humiliated, I have neither respect nor love for him.

          

The distance that has come today in this relationship, your father is responsible for all this. Somewhere I am also guilty, because I want on following his every word. Dedicated himself to them thinking that husband and wife complement each other. But I was wrong, I kept thinking of his bad behaviour as love for myself.

                       Hema has been separated from her husband for six years. Vijay repeatedly apologizes that Hema you came back, it will be as you say now. But it is not even in Hema's hands to bridge this distance.
