स्वाभिमान / Self respect

समय के साथ रिश्तों में परिपक्वता आना चाहिए, तभी पूर्णता तक पहुंचेंगे। अभी - अभी अलका घर पहुंची है। वो संगीत की शिक्षा ले रही है। जिस संगीत महाविद्यालय से वो संगीत में स्नातक करने वाली है। वहां अनेक विद्याओं की शिक्षा दी जाती है। 

          

विपुल भी उसी महाविद्यालय में वॉयलिन सीख रहा था। साथ ही एमबीए की पढाई भी कर रहा था। वो दूसरे शहर से यहाँ आकर अपने अच्छे भविष्य के लिए रात - दिन मेहनत कर रहा था। 

संगीत महाविद्यालय में प्रवेश के लिए अलका परेशान हो रही थी, वहीँ उसकी मुलाकात विपुल से हुई। विपुल ने बहुत मदद की थी अलका की महाविद्यालय में प्रवेश के लिए। उस दिन अंतिम तिथि होने से प्रवेश के लिए विद्यार्थियों की बहुत भीड़ थी। विपुल पुराना छात्र था, तो उसे सब पहचानते थे महाविद्यालय में। इसलिए अलका को ज़्यादा परेशानी नहीं हुई। 

         

उस पहली ही मुलाकात में दोनों एक दूसरे को दिल दे बैठे। लेकिन दोनों ही संकोच के कारण कुछ बोल नही सके। कई दिनों तक बस यही सिलसिला चला कि दोनों पास के कॉफ़ी शॉप में जाते कॉफ़ी पीते और अपनी - अपनी क्लास करके चले जाते।

ऐसे ही एक दूसरे के बोलने का इंतज़ार करते - करते छह महीने बीत गए। अब विपुल और इंतज़ार नहीं करना चाहता था। आज उसने तय किया कि वो अपने मन की बात अलका को कहेगा और उसके मन में क्या है ये भी अलका से पूछेगा।

           

पता नहीं क्या हुआ अलका को, आज वो आई ही नहीं। विपुल ने बहुत इंतज़ार किया फिर कुछ चिढ और उदासी के साथ अपने घर चला गया। उसकी सारी रात बेचैनी में बीती। विपुल ने तय किया कि सुबह होते ही वो अलका के घर जायेगा।

अगली सुबह विपुल जल्दी ही अलका के घर जा पहुंचा। अलका को सही सलामत देखकर उसको राहत महसूस हुई। लेकिन अलका विपुल को यहाँ  देखकर हैरान थी ! उसने पूछ ली कि क्या बात है विपुल सुबह - सुबह कैसे आना हुआ।

ये बात विपुल को बहुत बुरी लगी। बिना कुछ कहे वो वापस घर आ गया। अलका सोच में पड़ गई कि विपुल बिना कुछ कहे क्यों चला गया।

शाम में विपुल और अलका का आमना सामना हुआ तो विपुल यूँ चला गया सामने से जैसे अलका को जानता ही नहीं। ऐसा अजीब व्यवहार देखकर अलका ने क्लास के बाद विपुल को रोककर कॉफ़ी शॉप चलने का आग्रह की।

            

दोनों गए कॉफी पीने। तब अलका ने विपुल से पूछी सुबह तुम बिना कुछ कहे क्यों चले आये। कुछ देर चुप रहकर विपुल बोला, मैं ऐसा नहीं हूँ कि कोई मेरा अपमान करे और मैं बेशरम की तरह सुनता रहूं।

क्या ? मेरा कुछ भी कहना तुम्हें अपमानित लगा। लेकिन मैं तो सोच रही थी कि तुम मुझे प्यार करते हो। विपुल बीच में ही बोल पड़ा, हाँ तो क्या तुम मेरा अपमान करोगी।

अलका समझ गई कि विपुल को अपने आप पर घमण्ड है। उसका सादापन दिखावा था। कितनी ही बार बातों - बातों में विपुल अलका का अपमान कर देता था, लेकिन अलका ने कभी भी प्यार के आगे कुछ नहीं सोची। लेकिन अब उसे भी अपने स्वाभिमान की रक्षा करनी थी।

            

उसने अभिमानी विपुल को भविष्य के लिए शुभकामनाएं दी और अलविदा लेते हुए उसे बस यही बोली कि अभिमान अच्छा नहीं होता। स्वाभिमान से जियो लेकिन अभिमान के साथ नहीं।

Maturity should come in relationships with time, only then will they reach perfection. Alka has just reached home, she is taking music lessons. The music college from which she is going to do her graduation in music. Many disciplines are taught there. 

           

Vipul was also learning violin in the same college. He was also studying MBA. He was working day and night for his good future after coming here from another city.

While Alka was getting worried about entering the music college, she met Vipul. Vipul had helped Alka a lot to get into college. Since that day being the last date, there was a huge rush of students for admission. Vipul was an old student, so everyone knew him in college. So Alka did not have much trouble.

             

In that very first meeting, both of them gave heart to each other. But both could not speak due to hesitation. For several days, the same process continued that both of them would go to the nearby coffee shop, drink coffee and go to their respective classes.

Just like this, six months passed while waiting for each other to speak. Now Vipul didn't want to wait any longer. Today he decides that he will tell his mind to Alka and will also ask Alka what is on her mind.

            

Don't know what happened to Alka, today she didn't even come. Vipul waited for a long time then went to his house with some irritation and sadness. His whole night was spent in restlessness. Vipul decided that he would go to Alka's house in the morning.

Vipul reached Alka's house early the next morning. He felt relieved to see Alka safe and sound. But Alka was surprised to see Vipul here ! She asked what was the matter, how did Vipul come in the morning.

Vipul felt very bad about this. He came back home without saying anything. Alka wonders why Vipul left without saying anything.

When Vipul and Alka came face to face in the evening. Vipul walked away as if he did not know Alka. Seeing such strange behavior. Alka requested Vipul to stop after class and go to the coffee shop.

            

Both went to drink coffee. Then Alka asked Vipul why did you come in the morning without saying anything. After keeping quiet for some time, Vipul said, I am not like anyone to insult me and I keep listening like shameless.

What ? You felt insulted by what I said. But I was thinking that you love me. Vipul said in the middle, yes then will you insult me.

Alka understood that Vipul was proud of himself. His simplicity was a pretense. Vipul used to insult Alka many times in things, but Alka never thought anything in front of love. But now she too had to protect his self - respect.  

            

She wished the arrogant Vipul the best of luck for the future and while saying goodbye to him, she simply said that pride is not good. Live with self - respect but not with pride.
