मासूम निधि अभी इन बातों को नहीं समझ पाती। गांव के लोगों से बिसनू के बारे में तुलसिया को ये पता चला कि वो शहर में किसी लड़की के साथ रहता है। अब तुलसिया बिसनू के घर वापस आने की उम्मीद खो चुकी थी। क्योंकि किसी के साथ रहने का अर्थ यही था कि दोनों शादी कर चुके होंगे।

अब तुलसिया अपनी बेटी के लिए जी रही थी। किसी भी त्यौहार में उसे कोई रुचि नहीं रह गई थी। लेकिन फिर भी साल भर करवाचौथ व्रत का इंतजार जरूर करती थी। इस उम्मीद में कि भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती की कृपा से उसको व्रत का फल मिल जाए और बिसनू वापस आ जाए। इंतजार करते करते तुलसिया को पांच साल बीत गए, इन पांच सालों में बिसनू कभी कभी अपनी कुशलक्षेम पत्र के माध्यम से देता रहता था लेकिन उसमे कहीं भी अपने बच्चे के विषय में कोई प्रश्न या जिज्ञासा नही करता था। ख़ैर ! तुलसिया अपना कर्तव्य बहुत अच्छे से निभा रही थी। चार साल की निधि मां से पूछती, मम्मी का पापा जानत बा कि हमार उमिर केतना बा आ हमार नाम का बा। तुलसिया चुप बैठी निधि को देख रही थी, तभी निधि बोल पड़ी पापा आके का बोलिएहे ऊ ता हमार नाम जानत नई खे। समझत बानी माई जवाब काहे ना देली। तुलसिया बोली हमरा कुछु पता नईखे बेटी, तोहार बाबू कब अइहें आ तोहरा के का बोलइहें।

तुलसिया की सास अक्सर उससे दूसरी शादी करने के लिए कहती थी क्योंकि उन्हें भी अपने बेटे के वापस आने की कोई आस नहीं थी। तुलसिया का हमेशा एक ही जवाब होता था , जेकरा से हमार बियाह करे के रहे ऊ हो गइल बा, अब फेर केहू से बियाह ना कर सकीं माई। करवाचौथ में अब बस एक सप्ताह का समय रह गया है। तुलसिया पूरी श्रद्धा और विश्वास से इस व्रत को करती आई है। उसके उत्साह को देखते हुए उसकी सास उसे यही आशीर्वाद देती हैं कि ई साल के करवाचौथ में बिसनू आ जाए। भगवान तोहार बरत सफल करे। अब दो दिन बाकी है करवाचौथ में। तुलसिया बेटी निधि को लेकर बाजार गई है पूजन सामग्री लेने। रास्ते में एक कार दिखी उन्हे तो निधि हाथ हिलाकर टाटा करते हुए उछलते कूदते मां का हाथ थामे चली गई। उनके गांव में कभी कभार ऐसी गाड़ियां आती रहती थी। तो तुलसिया ने भी ध्यान नहीं दी और वे दोनो आगे बढ़ गई।

जब तुलसिया घर वापस आई तो देखी कि गाड़ी उनके घर के सामने खड़ी है। निधि मां का हाथ छुड़ाकर भागी और गाड़ी को छूकर देखने लगी तभी पीछे से आवाज आई बेटी आपको बैठना है इसमें। निधि सहम गई और मां के पीछे छिप गई, तुलसिया को तो अपनी आंखो पर विश्वास ही नहीं हो रहा था। तुलसिया निधि को साथ लेकर जल्दी से घर के अंदर चली गई। निधि ने मां से पूछी ई के ह। तुलसिया बोली ई तहार बाप हवे। इतना सुनते ही निधि कमरे से बाहर आई और बिसनू के गले लग गई। निधि मासूमियत से पूछने लगी काहे पापा तू हमरा के कबो याद ना करेल..s। बिसनू के मुंह से एक शब्द ना निकला, वो बस अपनी बेटी को गले लगाकर रो रहा था।

बिसनू अपने किए पर शर्मिंदा था इसलिए तुलसिया से बात करने का साहस नहीं कर पा रहा था। बिसनू के पास एक ही मौका है क्षमा मांगने का, वो है कल का दिन, क्योंकि कल करवाचौथ है। बिसनू को पूरा विश्वास है कि तुलसिया कल उसके सारे गुनाहों को माफ कर देगी। सुबह सवेरे तुलसिया उठ गई अपने व्रत की शुरुआत उसने सूर्य को अर्घ्य देकर की। बिसनू भी जल्दी उठ गया था, तुलसिया उससे बात नहीं कर रही थी लेकिन बिसनू उसके साथ - साथ हर जगह घूम रहा था। जैसे अब हर पल वो साये की तरह तुलसिया के साथ रहेगा। तुलसिया को आज उन सभी प्रश्नों के उत्तर चाहिए बिसनू से जिन्हें वो बरसों से खुद से पूछती आई हैं। तुलसिया ने बेझिझक पूछी कि - जवना लईकी के संगे रहत रहनी उ कहां गईल ? हमनी के कईसे याद आईल । कुछ समय बिसनू चुप रहा फिर बताया कि जिस लड़की को मैने अपना सब कुछ समझा वो मुझे धोखा दे रही थी झूठा प्यार का नाटक करके मुझसे मोटी रकम हड़पना ही उसका मकसद था। उसके जीवन में सिर्फ मैं ही नहीं था, वो औरों के साथ भी ऐसा ही धोखा करती थी। जब मुझे उसकी सच्चाई का पता चला तो उसने अपने दोस्तों के साथ मिलकर मुझे जान से मारने की कोशिश की। सही समय पर श्याम काका मुझे अस्पताल नही ले जाते तो मैं आज यहां नही रहता।

के ह ई श्याम चाचा। हमारे गांव के पास ही इनका गांव है, जब मुझे होश आया तो श्याम चाचा ने मुझसे पूछे कि कौन थे वो लोग जो तुम्हे जान से मारना चाहते थे। तब मैंने उन्हें सारी बात बताई। उन्होंने पूछे कि क्या तुम्हारी शादी हो गई है ? मैने हां में सिर हिलाया तो उन्होंने मुझे समझाए कि घर जा वापस और तेरी सभी गलतियों की माफी मांग ले तुलसिया से। सारा दिन बीत गया अब शाम हो आई थी। जल्दी - जल्दी खाना बनाकर तुलसिया पूजा के लिए तैयार होने लगी। इस वर्ष का करवाचौथ उसके लिए सारी खुशियां लेकर आया है। भगवान शिव ने उसकी प्रार्थना सुन ली। चांद की पूजा करने के बाद, उसने बिसनू का चेहरा देखी तो दोनो एक दूसरे को देखते ही रोने लगे। इन्ही आंसुओं के साथ तुलसिया ने अपनी शिकायतों और नाराजगी को भी बहने दी। बिसनू ने तुलसिया के पैर पकड़ लिए और माफी मांगने लगा। तुलसिया बोली अरे भगवान का कर रहल बाडू, हम तोहार मेहरारू हई, गोड़ मत पकड़ी। हम तोहरा के कबो दोष नइखी दिहले। अब बिसनू ने अपना पति धर्म निभाते हुए तुलसिया को पानी पिलाकर मिठाई खिलाया और उसका व्रत पूर्ण हुआ।

बिसनू को देखते हुए तुलसिया सोचने लगी हम त इहो ना सोचले रहीं कि एह साल के करवाचौथ हमरा जिनिगी के सबले बढ़िया करवाचौथ होखी। बिसनू शहर जाने की बात कर रहा था तो तुलसिया डर गई कि कहीं दोबारा बिसनू वैसा ही ना करे। लेकिन इस बार बिसनू पूरे परिवार को साथ ले गया और बेटी निधि को अच्छी शिक्षा मिल सके इसके लिए अच्छे स्कूल में उसका दाखिला करवा दिया।

While waiting for Tulsia, five years passed, in these five years Bisnu sometimes used to give through his well being letter but did not ask any question or curiosity about his child anywhere in it. Well ! Tulsia was doing her duty very well. Four year old Nidhi asks mother, does father know how old I am and what is my name. Tulsia was sitting silently looking at Nidhi, then Nidhi said, if father comes, what will be call me by saying, he does not even know my name. Mother is listening, why don't you answer ? Tulsia's mother - in - law often asked her to remarry as she too had no hope of her son's return. Tulsia started getting ready for the worship by preparing food early. This Year's Karva Chauth has brought all the happiness for him. Lord Shiva listened to his prayer. After worshipping the moon, she saw Bisnu 's face and both of them started crying on seeing each other. With these tears Tulsia allowed her grievances and resentment to flow. Bisnu grabbed Tulsia's feet and started apologizing. Tulsia said oh God, what are you doing, I am your wife, don't hold my feet. I have never blamed you. Now Bisnu, performing her husband's religion, fed Tulsia with water and sweets and her fast was completed.

Looking at Bisnu, Tulsia started thinking that I had not thought that this Year's Karva Chauth would be the best Karva Chauth of my life. When Bisnu was talking about going to the city, Tulsia got scared that Bisnu might do the same thing again. But this time Bisnu took the whole family along and got her daughter enrolled in a good school so that Nidhi could get a good education. ***** Abha *****
